Donjon de Loches

Saturday dawned bright and early. Me, not so much. This is the Williamsons' day of rest, so we all slept in (and Ben and I were jetlagged). That means, I slept until 9ish, but was the first of the cousins downstairs. After breakfasting, we set out for a "tour de Loches." Accompanied by Graham, Chandler, Aunt Jenn and Gemma, we got a quick overview of the town, before heading to the medieval and royal cities, the latter being basically where all the important people resided. There's not room here to tell the history that we learned, so I shall just relate what we did. I'm having trouble with captions for the pictures, so bear with me.

I'd like to end with these two pics. These are of the chapel of the donjon. No rooms were built above it. The chapel was not "allowed" to have anything above it. That's why it was either placed at the top, or off to the side. 

Please know that the inside of the donjon was hollowed out sometime ago, hence no floors.
